Hello, basically I’m trying to answer the question “What email infrastructure do I actually need?” for marketing emails with HubSpot.
I’ve constantly seen and read “create an email sending subdomain” but it’s fuzzy on if it’s as simple as setting up records in DNS and email marketing platforms, or if we actually need to purchase additional domains and email users/accounts in order to get true value from this.
Our current setup:
- Email sending subdomain: GoDaddy via CNAME record “news.domain.org”
- CRM / email marketing platform: HubSpot
- HubSpot email sending domain 1: “domain.org”
- HubSpot email sending domain 2: “news.domain.org”
- Email service: Google Workspace
- User alias domain: “news.domain.org” (I set this up so that we can receive replies to the marketing emails sent via the subdomain)
My Questions:
- Does using the “news.domain.org” subdomain for HubSpot marketing emails ACTUALLY do anything for us vs just using “domain.org”? Or is it a bunch of fluff because it’s really all under the one main “domain.org.”
- Do I need to purchase a TRUE different domain vs just creating a subdomain?
- Do I need a true new Google Workspace user OR entire account? Or is using a “User alias domain” combined with the CNAME subdomain sufficient?
