Now in Sequence property“Now in sequence = False” filter does not include contacts never enrolled in

Hi everyone,

I’ve run into an issue with the Now in sequence contact property and wanted to check if this is expected behavior or if I’m missing something.

I’m trying to filter contacts that are not currently in a sequence. My assumption was that using the filter:

  • Now in sequence is equal to FALSE

would return:

  1. Contacts that are explicitly not currently in a sequence, and
  2. Contacts that have never been enrolled in any sequence (i.e. where the property is unknown/not set).

However, what I’m seeing is that this filter only returns contacts where the property is explicitly set to false. Contacts that have never been in any sequence (unknown value for “Now in sequence”) are not included in the results. For other properties Hubspot offers the checkbox for including records with unknown value – unfortunately not in this case.

  1. My questions:
Is a checkbox planned to be added to that property?
  2. How are you solving that issue without complex filter logic (filter group and OR-logic)?

Thanks in advance for any guidance or examples from others who’ve solved this in a clean way.

Best,
Franziska
